Week 1

1. When have you had the experience of standing in front of an authority and being judged? What emotions have you felt in those circumstances?

2. Read aloud Romans 5:9. When you hear the phrase “Wrath of God,” What comes to mind? How does that square with a merciful God?

3. Read aloud Romans 5:10. What does it say about God’s love for us that he died while we were his enemies?

4. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you buy in emotionally and intellectually that our judgment goes well for us because of what Jesus’ performance on the cross and not on our sins?

5. How can we increase the joy and gratitude we have for what Jesus did for us by his cross and resurrection?

Week 2

1. Do you think of yourself as having wounds in your heart and soul? What is your reaction to the assertion, we all have wounds?

2. Read aloud Mark 2:8-11. What does this tell us about what Jesus wants to do for us?

3. When was the last time you got very angry or upset or frustrated? Was it justified or was it a small thing that hints at a wound?

4. What needs or desires have you been bringing to God in prayer? How might God use that need to bring healing to your heart or soul?

5. Hurt people hurt people, but healed people heal people. How does dealing with our own wounds set us up to help others?

Week 3

1. When was the last time you were afraid? What did you fear?

2. How do you usually handle fear?

3. When was the last time you were brave or courageous? What were the circumstances?

4. Read aloud Romans 8:15. What does this verse tell us about overcoming our fears?

5. How does embracing suffering actually help us deal with fears?

Week 4

1. What was on your mind this past week? What did you think about the most?

2. What ads or products usually get your attention or spark your interest? What does this say about how you are most likely to be conformed to this world?

3. God thinks differently than we do. How can this simple fact help us in renewing our minds and learning to think as he does?

4. When you come across a Church teaching or something in the Scriptures you don't agree with, what do you usually do? What would a humble attitude look like when that occurs?

5. What is one step you could take to “Watch your brain food” so that your mind can be renewed?

Week 5

1. If you received an unexpected check, would your first thought be how you would save it, spend it, pay down debt or give some of it away?

2. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you see yourself as a steward? Why do you answer as you do?

3. Money will eventually fail us. Why do we struggle to embrace this truth?

4. What charities do you support? Why do you support them? How are they investing in eternity?

5. What is one step you can take to act more like a steward than an owner?

Week 6

1. What are some dumb rules you have to deal with right now or have had to deal with in the past? What made or makes them dumb?

2. When was the last time you tried to get around a rule or push it to its limit?

3. When have you seen rules get in the way of relationships?

4. Read aloud Matthew 15:8-9. How is your heart right now? Is your heart softening or hardening towards God?

5. How is your heart towards people? Are you loving people or more focused on rules than relationship?
