Fr. Don Finney was born in Omaha, NE. He attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and graduated with a degree in History. He taught U.S. History, World History, Theology and was Assistant Headmaster at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, CT. He studied for the priesthood at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA and was ordained to the priesthood on May 28, 1994 at St. Patrick Cathedral in Norwich, CT. Fr. Don has served at St. Louis Parish in Webster, MA, the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and St. Lucie Parish in Port St. Lucie, FL. In April 2003 Fr. Don was appointed pastor of St. Peter and has overseen tremendous growth in our parish and the many ministries that serve our parish community.


Father Sabas joined us from St. Jospeh in Stuart, FL.  He was born in the "Umbwe Village" of Tanzania. He attended seminary in Tanzania and was ordained on June 30, 1991. Father Sabas also studied at the Lateran University of Rome and received a Master's Degree in Pastoral Theology. Soon after, he served as a novice master at Sabuko in Tanzania. Father Sabas' ministry has also taken him to three continents. He has served as parochial vicar at Rosana Parish (Tanzania), Parrochia San Maria Magiore (Italy), St. Raphael Church (Santa Barbara), St. Francis Xavier (Pico Rivera). He was also a pastor at Parrochia San Giorgio Martire (Italy) and St. Eugune (Los Angeles) and as Administrator of St. Benedict the African (Chicago). Father Sabas is a member of the Apostolic Life Community of Priests in the Opus Spirtus Sancti (ALCP/OSS).

 

Father Thomas Klinzing was ordained to the priesthood on June 8, 1971, earned a license in Canon Law from the Catholic University of American in 1978, and was named an honorary prelate of the Church with the title Monsignor on January 7, 1986. He has served in various positions in the Church as parochial vicar, pastor, chancellor, vicar general, consultor and secretary to a bishop. He has served in the Diocese of Palm Beach since 1992 in the Tribunal and presently serves as Judicial Vicar of the Diocese, and is a member of various committees of the Diocese of Palm Beach. He was Father Don's first pastor at the Cathedral of Saint Ignatius, when Father Don came to the Diocese.  We are happy Fr. Tom can assist us on weekends.  

 

Fr. Glen Pothier is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada.  He studied at the Saint Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary and was ordained in 1995 for the Diocese of Palm Beach.  After ordination, Fr. Glen served in several parishes, including Saint Helen and Saint Ignatius Loyola Cathedral.  He then studied Canon Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and now serves as Adjutant Judicial Vicar and canon lawyer in the Tribunal and Office of Canonical Services.  Fr. Glen assists us on the  weekend and we are blessed by his presence.

 

 

Deacon Don Battiston graduated from Marianapolis Prep School, Georgetown University and St. Thomas Seminary. He was ordained to the Diaconate in 1976 for the Archdiocese of Hartford.  Deacon Don assists the parish on week-ends; however, his primary ministry is with the Diocesan Office of Prison Ministry as a Catholic Chaplain at two maximum security prisons. He and his wife Pam have 5 children and 13 grandchildren.


Deacon Byron Champagne was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in September 2006. Deacon Byron and Linda have been married for 37 years and have 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren. Their journey led them to Jupiter in 1999 where their faith continues to grow here at St Peter Parish. The Lord has led Deacon Byron to outreach ministries, Food for Families, SVDP, and currently chairing the SAM ministry with his wife Linda. His career has been in sales for the past 25 years and he currently works with National City Bank.
 


Deacon Steve McMahon and his wife Mona are both "Native Floridians". They live in Abacoa with their four children (Steve Jr., Tess, Katie and Matthew) and was ordained right here at St. Peter in 1999 in what is now the Parish Hall.  Deacon Steve is involved in our LifeTeen ministry.

He graduated from Clemson University and began his theological education at St. Vincent De Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach attending nights and weekends. Deacon Steve has made a career working full-time supporting his family as a Financial Consultant at a major brokerage firm since 1985.  Mr. McMahon also served seven years as Captain McMahon in the  U. S. Air Force. where he learned how to drink coffee and fly sideways for hours at a time.

Deacon Joe Pollock was ordained as a Permanent Deacon in September 2006 here in the Diocese of Palm Beach. He is married to Kathy and along with their two children and now their families have been parishioners of St. Peter since 1988. Deacon Joe is now retired from his career as a consulting civil engineer and has embarked on his new career as a deacon. He is very thankful for the support and encouragement expressed by the parish and looks forward to helping parishioners grow in their relationship with God and love of Him. Deacon Joe’s prayer is that each of us will know Jesus more clearly, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more nearly.


Deacon Stephen Scienzo was born in Providence RI and ordained as a Permanent Deacon on September 6th 2008. He moved to Florida in 1968 with his parents and met his wife Cheri in 1971 and married her in 1972. They have two children Michael and Catherine and three grand children Liliana, Toby, and Salvatore. A parishioner since 1987, Deacon Stephen has been involved in many different ministries. He has served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Lector, and Altar Server as well as working in the Food for Families ministry and the Ministry for the Sick. He has recently become involved in Pastoral Care at St Mary’s Hospital for the diocese of Palm Beach and oversees our Hospital, Nursing Home, Critically ill, and Home bound Ministry for the Sick at St Peters. Currently Stephen is an Independent Insurance Agent and owner of his own firm Scienzo and Associates Insurance Agency. His desire in life has always been to serve needs of others as he now serves the people of God as a Permanent Deacon. He reminds us that “Life is precious from the moment of conception until natural death and should never be taken for granted. Life is a Gift from God. Let us always remember that and cherish it.”


Sr. Esther Ramírez Piña, MGSpS was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. After completing school to become a secretary she entered the Institute of the Guadalupan Missionaries of the Holy Spirit in 1952. Sr. Esther received her theological formation in Morelia Michoacan, Mexico and began her missionary work in Mexico as well. In 1962 she was transferred to Puerto Rico and came to St. Peter in 2003. In 2004 Sr. Esther celebrated here at St. Peter, her 50th anniversary as a Guadalupan sister. She gives thanks to God for the tremendous grace he has given her and is very happy that she can experience the faith of the mission here in Jupiter with all of her sisters and brothers.


Sr. Marta Lucía Tobón Gómez, MGSpS was born in Medellín, Colombia and immigrated with her family to the United States in 1970. She completed high school in Miami and began college there as well. It was in Miami that she met the Guadulpan sisters and in 1975 went to Mexico to study and become a sister. Sr. Marta finished her studies in Religious Education and then returned to the United States to begin evangelization and religious education with the migrant community. She worked in Taunton, MA, Attleboro, MA, New Bedford, MA, Puerto Rico, Miami, FL, Hermosa Beach, CA, Los Ángeles, CA before coming to St. Peter in 2003. Here at St. Peter she has seen God working through the support and dedication of the parish to help El Sol Labor Center become a reality.


Sr. Teresa Aguiñaga Guerra, MGSpS was born in San Felipe Guanajuato, México. In 1958 she entered the Institute of the Guadalupan Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, where she began her preparation for her missionary life. In 1985 she began a four years course of study on the spiritual life in the Institute of Spirituality in Guadalajara, Mexico. Since becoming a Guadaupan sister in December of 1966 she has served in Puerto Rico, Fort Myers, Immokalee, Homestead, Fl. New Bedford, Mass. , Tifton Ga. Glenwood Springs Co. Sr. Teresa is very happy to be able to serve and journey with the faith community of St. Peter.


Deanna Bartalini moved to Florida from New York with her husband John after graduating from college.  She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and Applied Linguistics, an M.Ed in Educational Leadership and completed her M.P.S. in Pastoral Administration in December of '09.  Deanna and John have been married for 26 years and have two children, Peter and Elisa.  In her role as Director of Stewardship she wants to be an example living out the truth that all we are and have is gift and our lives must be lived with gratitude to God.


Giovanna Christian was born and grew up in the Chicago area. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.  She has been a parishioner since 1990 and has been the Director of Finance since 2000.  She is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion,a member of the Mission Ministry and Bell Choir. She has three children, Kate, Kelly and Michael.  Giovanna loves being a part of our dynamic growing parish and enjoys participating in its many events, from spiritual to social and getting to know our wonderful families.


Marianne Doughney is the Director of Youth Ministry and Confirmation 1 and 2 programs at St. Peter Parish.  Before joining our parish family in July of 2003, she served as Director of Youth Ministry/Confirmation at St. Lucie Catholic Church for four years.  Marianne has been married to her husband Jack for 30 years.  They have three children, John who resides in Manhattan, Killian who resides in Lake Park and Shannon who resides in Palm Beach Gardens.  Marianne is very happy to work with the teens and families of St. Peter Parish to develop and maintain a vibrant LIFE TEEN Youth Ministry and Confirmation Program.


Steve Knecht is our facilities manager and a native Floridian, who can trace his family back to the founding families in Palm Bay dating to the mid 1800’s. After attending the University of Florida, he went to work for Harris Corporation enabling him to travel all around the world, live abroad and consultant with Governments on various projects. Music is his greatest passion and on the weekends serves as the organist/choirmaster for Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Port St. Lucie.
 


Mary Ann Glickman and her family moved to Florida from Ossining, New York in 1987. She lives in Jupiter with her husband Peter and children Nicole and Marc. Mary Ann works in our nursery on Tuesdays and Sundays and really enjoys taking care of our little ones.


Christine Macdonald is the Parish Secretary.  Christine was born in Long Island, New York and moved to Merritt Island, FL as an infant.  In 1972 Christine and her family moved to Port St. Lucie, FL where she still resides.  Christine is a single parent with three daughters; Allison, Jennifer, and Heather.  Christine shares her time and talent in the LIFE TEEN Youth Ministry playing her guitar in the band and as a member of the core team.


Rebecca Miklos was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and moved to Florida in 1992. She has a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, and an M.A. in Religion and Religious Education from the Catholic University of America. Becky became the Director of Religious Education at St. Peter in January 2008. Becky has been a parishioner at St. Peter for many years, involved in numerous ministries while working full-time in the field of accounting, She is the single mom of two daughters, Sarah and Eva, who attend All Saints Catholic School. Becky loves the vibrant, Catholic community of St. Peter Parish and is thrilled to be able to contribute to its growing vitality and authenticity by leading children and families to an ever deeper understanding of their Catholic faith.


Jo Munoz was born in Glen Cove, New York and moved to South Florida after attending Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She worked with personal injury lawyers for eighteen years before coming to St. Peter to work as an Administrative Assistant in our parish office. Jo also uses her talents in our gift shop after the Spanish Mass and is a great support to the Spanish community.  Her husband Angel is a member of the Spanish RCIA team and both serve on the Spanish ministry leaders team.  They have been married for thirty years and have two children, Raquel and Joseph. 


Since 2005, Thomas Tiehel has served as Director of Music and Organist for St. Peter Catholic Church in Jupiter, Florida. His music ministry, involving over 175, includes choral, handbell and instrumental ensembles for children, youth and adults. Mr. Tiehel earned a Master of Sacred Music in Organ Performance and Choral Conducting from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor in Organ Performance from Towson University. He did postgraduate studies at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey.

His previous posts have included Organist and Director of Liturgical Music at the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Organist for the First Seventh Day Adventist Church; and teaching positions at The Cathedral School and Harrisburg Seventh Day Adventists School. At First United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas, he was Director of Music and led a large music program including handbell, vocal and instrumental ensembles.


Santos Tejada was born in El Salvador, the third son in a family of ten! He left El Salvador as a young man in his twenties and moved to Boston, MA where he worked at Harvard University in the Department of Facility and Maintenance Operations. It was there he met his wife Etiel. In 2003 Santos moved to Florida and became a member of our parish. Not long after, he saw our ad for help and joined our staff in 2004. He believes that God sent him here to work and be a part of our parish family. Santos, Etiel and their three children, Jason, Kevin, and Magdalena are very happy here at St. Peter.
