CHILDREN’S
LITURGY OF THE WORD
This program,
which strives to foster a sense of belonging among the
children of our parish from pre-k through grade 4, takes
place during the 9:30am and 11:00am Masses every Sunday. The
priest calls children forward before the Liturgy of the Word
begins and invites them to go to the Chapel where they
listen to the day’s readings from the children’s Bible and
hear an explanation in language they can understand.
There is no registration
required. Visitors are welcome.

Religious Education, Grades Kindergarten
through 7
Our program’s
primary focus is to educate children in the Catholic faith.
We strive, through age appropriate activities and materials,
to make our faith come alive for the young people of St.
Peter. We meet on Tuesday and Wednesday after school in the Parish
Hall and at All Saints School.
Sacrament
Preparation
-
There is a
two-year preparation program requirement to receive
First Communion. Children begin classes in grade 1
and then receive First Reconciliation and Communion in
grade 2. Children are also expected to attend
Sunday Mass in order to be more fully prepared.
-
Children and
Youth older than second grade who have not received
Baptism, Reconciliation, and/or Communion, are invited to
participate in classes specifically geared for those
individuals. We will strive to meet individual needs and
address special situations if alerted to them.
Classes meet at the same time as the K through 7th
grade classes. In addition to class time, participation is
required at Sunday Mass.
At St.
Peter, religious education does not stop at Grade Two when
sacraments are received. Each grade level adds another layer
of knowledge of what it means to be Catholic, and
strengthens our faith in God by learning about what He wants
from us as His children.
